Professor Michael David Wilson was a Professor of Parasitology with over forty years in research and research management. As a Founding Member, Professor Wilson was pivotal in the concept and strategy development of the Institute, making strategic decisions that align with the founding principles of the Institute. He was a key resource person for the development and implementation of high-quality research initiatives, encouraged innovation and entrepreneurship in research, and supported the translation of discoveries into knowledge and technologies that will benefit society.
Nana Oye Akuffo is a Grants Administrator with over twenty years' experience in grants management. Following her Master’s Degree in Administration from Central University College, she undertook studies with grants administrators at Yale University Office for Sponsored Research and the Office of Sponsored Research of the Morehouse School of Medicine. Working with Senior Members of the University, she oversees its research development, implementation, and closure. She assists both students and staff in the areas of training opportunities and involvement in research activities. She played a key role in setting up the Office of Sponsored Research at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, which was set up to streamline the grants administration process at the Institute. In 2018, she was awarded the maiden Research Administrators Mobility Program (RAMP) Scholarship by Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI). The newly established scholarship was designed to provide financial support for an in-house training at the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) at Yale University to observe, learn, and understand more about the business operations and processes involved with sponsored projects at Yale University. She is also a two-time recipient of an NIH funded grant for capacity building for research administrators in Ghana and the West African sub region. In 2024, she was inducted into the distinguished faculty of the Society for Research Administrators International (SRAI). She is a reviewer, mentor and seasoned speaker on grants management and administration.
Griselda Osae Amoako has worked in Research management for over twelve years and coordinated numerous sponsored projects. She has worked with various funders such as WHO, NIH, USAID, DANIDA, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Wellcome Trust, just to mention a few. She has received various certificates including Certificate in Fundamentals of Research Administration, Certificate in Practice of Research Administration, and Manage Certificate in Fundamentals of Research Administration and Certificate in Research Integrity. She has expertise in managing multidisciplinary projects and international collaborations. She has received in-house training at Yale Office for Sponsored Project and the University of Cape Town and has attended various internal workshops and conferences on Research Administration.
Kofi Adams Kpebu has been an accountant for over twenty years and has over fifteen years of experience in project financial management. He has expertise in proving financial support to sustain research excellence through partnerships with internal and external funders. He has worked with various funders such as WHO, NIH, USAID, DANIDA, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Wellcome Trust, just to mention a few, and has attended various international conferences on Financial management and accountability.
Pamela Nai has worked in a research support office as an Administrative Assistant for over ten years. She has also worked with various funders such as WHO, NIH, USAID, DANIDA, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, EDCTP and Wellcome Trust, just to mention a few. She has received various training in executive management and diplomacy. She has impeccable management & organizational skills and customer service. She also has an in-depth understanding of the grant management business due to her vast experience in working with various donor agencies.
Elizabeth Batchilly is a research management professional and the current Head of Governance and Research Support services at Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She holds an MSc in Project Management from the University of Salford, UK and various training certificates in research management and research integrity. She has over 12 years experience in research management which spans from pre-award to post-award and performance management (KPIs and performance reporting). Adopting a culture of excellence is her mantra in the workplace.
